Visitor Center Odnes
Welcome to the Visitor Center in Odnes. Here we have the Naturhuset, which is used for communication, a bird tower and an office building. Our address is: Gamlevegen 84, 2879 Odnes.
The Wetland Visitor Center in Odnes is open to the public every Wednesday and Saturday during the school's summer holidays. On Wednesdays, we have a free family-friendly activity that provides more knowledge about how we can all contribute to taking care of nature. On both Wednesdays and Saturdays, we rent out canoes that can be used to experience the delta up close. In collaboration with Lands Museum, we have an exhibition about the biological diversity in the delta.
During the rest of the year, the Visitor Center is used for nature guidance for school classes, other events and for hire for meeting activities. The Bird Day is organized every year at the beginning of May, in collaboration with Birdlife Oppland.
The new office building is built in heavy half-timbered timber, as the old barns along the Randsfjorden were traditionally built. Late-grown spruce is used in the constructions, spruce is used for panels inside and black spruce is used in the wet rooms. All materials are cut and sawn locally.
Our outdoor area and the bird tower are open to visitors all year round, also outside our opening hours. Here it is arranged for fishing, swimming, barbecuing and bird watching. From the Visitor Center there is also a nature-cultural trail along the railway to Dokka, so feel free to include a stop with us if you are on a tour in the summer or a ski trip in the winter.
Welcome to Odnes!
